It divides annual miles by MPG or MPGe-equivalent efficiency, multiplies by fuel or energy price, then divides by 12 for a monthly estimate.

When does fuel cost matter most?

Fuel matters most for high-mileage drivers, low-MPG trucks and SUVs, long commutes, delivery/gig driving, and comparisons between hybrids/EVs and gas vehicles.

Should I use EPA MPG or real-world MPG?
